The convention in Shutter Island which is a thriller are the main image of the character next to the short but mysterious tag line. The iconography of the isolated island is a convention of the thriller genre along with the dim light of the match, the black background with the rain and the blood red title. The title itself also seems sketchy and unnerving. There is a reference to the director along with the actors name. The release date is also in the same blood red colour as the title. There is also the billing, sound logo, production companies logo and the social media links at the bottom of the poster.
