Potential Magazine Layouts

I have sketched out four potential magazine layouts for my front cover. I have used other magazines such as Total Film, Sight & Sound, SFX, American Cinematographer and Empire as inspiration and have applied the information that I have researched for the magazine front cover.

This magazine layout was inappropriate for my chosen magazine. this is because this one was a bit too action like and mainstream like. There was too much going on for this cover and this cover was not suitable for my audience or theme of magazine.

I thought that this magazine cover was more appropriate as it is less in your face as the one before but it still has a quirky style to it which could match my independent magazine.

This one would not be appropriate to use for my magazine cover as the layout and design do not match my intended theme for my magazine. I also feel that the layout is not a particularly good one to use for any magazine in general such as having the masthead at the bottom of the page because in a shop, you tend to look at the top of the magazine for the masthead and I feel that this would just be skipped over and not draw people to it.

After considering my options, I thought that this would be the most appropriate cover to use. I feel like it looks the most authentic layout of a magazine such as mine, an independent British one which does not focus on the Hollywood blockbusters. This layout looks the most genuine and I feel like this is easy on the eyes but also attractive to the audience that I am reaching out for.
